Why does Linus keep getting stuck on one line?

1. Change the cue word

  1. Open your scene.
  2. Tap Run Lines from the Scene Menu.
  3. Go to the line where Linus is getting stuck.
  4. Look for the orange highlighted word. This is the cue word.
  5. Tap a different word in the line to change it.
  6. Choose a word slightly earlier if the current cue word is right at the end of the line.

2. Try the line again

  1. Press Play.
  2. Say the line again.
  3. Check whether Linus moves forward.

If Linus moves forward, the cue word was likely the issue.

3. Check Speech Recognition

If Linus is still getting stuck:

  1. Go back to the folder screen.
  2. Tap the Settings icon in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Tap Playback Settings.
  4. Scroll to Speech Recognition.
  5. Try switching between On-device and Cloud.

On-device is faster and can work offline.

Cloud may be more accurate, but requires internet.

4. Use Timed Advance

If the line is very short, or Linus keeps getting stuck on the same line, use Timed Advance.

  1. Go back to Run Lines.
  2. Find the problem line.
  3. Tap the three dots beside the line.
  4. Tap Timed Advance.
  5. Press and hold the centre timing button while you say the line.
  6. Release the button when you finish speaking.
  7. Tap Save.

Linus will now move forward after the saved timing instead of listening for the cue word on that line.

When is Timed Advance best?

Timed Advance is best for:

  • one-word lines
  • short lines
  • tricky words
  • lines that keep getting stuck
  • moments where you want the same timing every time

When should I avoid Timed Advance?

For longer lines or monologues, try changing the cue word first.

Timed Advance works best when you know the timing will stay consistent.
