How do I use Timed Advance?

Written steps

  1. Open your scene.
  2. Tap Run Lines from the Scene Menu.
  3. Find the line you want to set timing for.
  4. Tap the three dots beside that line.
  5. Tap Timed Advance.
  6. Press and hold the centre timing button.
  7. Say the line out loud.
  8. Release the button when you finish speaking.
  9. Tap Save.

Linus will now move forward after that amount of time whenever it reaches that line.

How do I know what timing to set?

Set the timing by saying the line the way you plan to say it in rehearsal or Self Tape.

Press and hold while you speak, then release when you finish. Linus will use that timing for the line.

When should I use Timed Advance?

Use Timed Advance when:

  • Linus is not picking up a short line
  • a line is only one or two words
  • the cue word is hard to detect
  • the same line keeps getting stuck
  • you want the scene to keep moving at a consistent rhythm

Does this affect Self Tape?

Yes.

If you set Timed Advance for a line in Run Lines, that timing will also be used in Self Tape.
