When you create a Linus account, we collect:
Your Apple ID email (if using Apple Sign-In)
Display name (optional)
Profile preferences
If you choose anonymous sign-in, we only collect a unique device identifier.
Script and Content Data
To provide our core functionality, we process:
Scripts you upload: Used to create practice sessions and generate AI scene partners
Voice recordings: Your practice recordings are stored locally on your device
Session data: Practice history, progress tracking, and performance metrics
Email Communications
When you create a Linus account using Apple or Google Sign-In, your email address will be added to our mailing list. We use this to send you:
Product updates and new features
Tips and resources for getting the most out of Linus
Occasional promotional offers
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at [email protected]. Unsubscribing from marketing emails will not affect your ability to use the app or receive important account-related communications (such as billing or security notices).
Linus Cloud Features
When you use Linus Cloud features, additional data processing occurs:
Script Processing (Cloud Parsing)
Original PDF files you upload are processed in transit only and are not stored on our servers
The parsed script data (character names, dialogue, scene structure) is stored securely to enable sync features across your devices
You can delete your parsed scripts at any time through the app
Self-Tape Cloud Storage
Self-tapes you choose to upload are stored in secure AWS servers located in Sydney, Australia (ap-southeast-2)
When you remove a shared link or delete a self-tape from the server, it will be permanently deleted within 24 hours
Self-tapes are encrypted in transit and at rest
Speech Recognition (Deepgram)
When using speech recognition features, audio is processed through Deepgram for real-time transcription
Audio is streamed in real-time and not stored by our servers
This processing is subject to Deepgram's Privacy Policy
Line Read Recordings
When using the Line Read feature, your voice is processed through ElevenLabs for speech-to-speech voice transformation
Audio is processed in real-time and not stored after processing
This processing is subject to ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy
Usage Analytics
With your consent, we collect anonymous usage data to improve our service:
App feature usage patterns
Performance metrics
Crash reports
You can opt out of analytics collection in the app settings at any time.
What We Don't Collect
We do not sell your personal data
We do not use your scripts for AI training
We do not share your content with third parties for marketing
We do not store your original PDF scripts on our servers
We do not store your speech recognition audio
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide Core Services: Enable script practice, AI scene partners, and voice generation
Sync Your Data: Allow access to your scripts and recordings across devices (if using Linus Cloud)
Improve the App: Analyze anonymous usage patterns to enhance features

3. Third-Party Services
Linus integrates with trusted third-party services:
OpenAI / Groq: For AI-powered features and scene analysis
ElevenLabs: For voice generation and speech-to-speech transformation
Google Cloud: For text-to-speech services
Deepgram: For real-time speech recognition
Apple / RevenueCat: For subscription and payment processing
Amazon Web Services (AWS): For secure cloud storage of self-tapes (Sydney, Australia region)
Each service has their own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for these services to function.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage
Most of your data is stored locally on your device:
Scripts and parsed scene data
Practice recordings
App preferences and settings
Cloud Storage (Optional)
If you enable Linus Cloud features:
Parsed script data is synced securely to our servers
Self-tapes you share are stored in AWS (Sydney, Australia - ap-southeast-2)
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
Security Measures
We protect your data using:
Industry-standard encryption (AES-256)
Secure authentication (Apple Sign-In, JWT tokens)
Regular security audits
Access controls and monitoring
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
Account Data: Kept while your account is active
Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete the app
Cloud Data: Kept until you delete it or close your account
Self-Tapes: Deleted within 24 hours of removal from the server
Original PDFs: Processed in transit only, never stored
Speech Recognition Audio: Processed in real-time, not stored
Analytics: Anonymized data may be retained for up to 2 years
When you delete your account, we remove all your personal data within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access: Request a copy of your personal data
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
Portability: Export your data in a standard format
Opt-out: Disable analytics collection at any time

Australia: Primary data storage (AWS ap-southeast-2 - Sydney)
United States: Third-party AI services (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Deepgram)
By using Linus, you consent to this international data transfer.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of Linus after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
