Getting Started
What do I do if Linus isn’t picking up my line?
1. Check the cue word
- Open your scene.
- Tap Run Lines from the Scene Menu.
- Go to the line Linus is not picking up.
- Look for the word highlighted in orange.
- Check the cue word Linus is listening for.
2. Change the cue word
- Tap a different word in your line.
- Check that the new word turns orange.
- Try saying the line again.
3. Choose a better cue word
If Linus is still not moving forward, try choosing a word that is:
- slightly earlier in the line
- clear and easy to say
- not too short
- not too soft or swallowed
- not right at the very end of a long line
4. Check Speech Recognition
- Go back to the folder screen.
- Tap the Settings icon in the top right-hand corner.
- Tap Playback Settings.
- Scroll down to Speech Recognition.
- Choose On-device or Cloud.
On-device
On-device speech recognition is faster, more private, and can work without internet.
Cloud
Cloud speech recognition may be more accurate, but it requires internet and may be slightly slower.
5. Use Timed Advance for short or tricky lines
- Go back to Run Lines.
- Find the line causing issues.
- Tap the three dots beside the line.
- Tap Timed Advance.
- Press and hold the centre timing button while you say the line.
- Release the button when you finish speaking.
- Tap Save.
Linus will now move forward after the saved amount of time, instead of listening for a cue word on that line.
When should I use each fix?
Change the cue word
Use this first. It is usually the quickest fix.
Check Speech Recognition
Use this if Linus is missing multiple lines or struggling to recognise what you’re saying.
Use Timed Advance
Use this for very short lines, tricky words, or lines where Linus keeps getting stuck.
