How do I record a self-tape in Linus?

Written steps

  1. Open the scene you want to record.
  2. Tap Run Lines from the Scene Menu.
  3. Check the script and make sure the lines look correct.
  4. Check the character voices and make sure the other characters sound right.
  5. Check the timing and make sure the scene moves at the pace you want.
  6. Go back to the Scene Menu when you are happy with the scene.
  7. Tap Self Tape.
  8. Check your framing and make sure you are happy with how you look on camera.
  9. Check the teleprompter and make sure your lines are easy to read.
  10. Tap the settings wheel in the top right-hand corner of the teleprompter box if you need to adjust it.
  11. Adjust the teleprompter if needed.
  12. Tap the red Record button when you are ready.
  13. Perform your scene while Linus reads the other characters’ lines.

What should I check before recording?

Before you record, use Run Lines to check:

  • the script looks correct
  • your character is selected correctly
  • the other character voices sound right
  • the timing feels natural
  • the reader performances are working for the scene

What can I adjust in the teleprompter?

From the teleprompter settings, you can adjust:

  • font size

  • opacity of the teleprompter box
  • whether action lines are shown
