How can I make the reader sound more natural?

What should I try first?

Start with Line Read.

Line Read is useful when the rhythm, timing, accent, or emotion of a line doesn’t sound quite right.

Instead of trying to describe the performance, you can record the line yourself. Linus will then use your performance as a guide while keeping the selected character voice.

How to use Line Read

  1. Open your scene.
  2. Tap Run Lines from the Scene Menu.
  3. Find the line you want to improve.
  4. Tap the three dots on the right-hand side of the line.
  5. Tap Line Read.
  6. Tap to record.
  7. Say the line the way you want it performed.
  8. Press Stop when you’re finished.
  9. Wait while Linus generates the new line read.
  10. Tap Play to preview it.
  11. Re-record or trim the waveform if needed.
  12. Tap away once you’re happy.

Tips for a better Line Read

For the best result:

  • speak clearly
  • match the rhythm you want
  • match the emotional tone you want
  • try to match the accent as closely as you can
  • leave a clean start and end to the recording
  • preview the line before continuing

Another option: use Enhance

If you don’t want to record a Line Read, you can also use Enhance to type performance direction for the line.

For example, you can add direction like:

  • softer
  • more urgent
  • curious
  • angry
  • flirtatious
  • laughing
  • crying
  • whispering

This can help guide how Linus performs the line.

Which option should I use?

Use Line Read when you know exactly how you want the line to sound.

Use Enhance when you want to give a written performance note or emotional direction.

Important note

Enhance is a Premium feature and is still being improved.

If the result doesn’t sound how you expected, contact us through Live Chat in Linus or email [email protected] so we can keep improving it.
