What are playback patterns?

Playback patterns let you choose how your lines are played during a Table Read.

You can hear your lines normally, add a silent gap before them, add a silent gap after them, or use gaps to practise saying your lines yourself.

Written steps

1. Open your scene.
2. Tap Table Read from the Scene Menu.
3. Find the playback pattern controls.
4. Swipe between the available playback patterns.
5. Press Play.

You can also change the playback pattern while Table Read is already running.

Playback pattern options

Them You Them

Linus reads the other character’s line, then your line, then the next other character’s line.

This is the default pattern.

Use this when you want to hear the whole scene read normally.

Them Gap You Them

Linus reads the other character’s line, leaves a silent gap, then reads your line.

Use this when you want a chance to try saying your line before hearing it.

Them You Gap Them

Linus reads the other character’s line, reads your line, then leaves a silent gap before continuing.

Use this when you want to hear your line first, then repeat it yourself.

Them Gap You Gap Them

Linus reads the other character’s line, leaves a gap, reads your line, then leaves another gap before continuing.

Use this when you want space before and after your line.

Them You Gap You Them

Linus reads the other character’s line, reads your line, leaves a gap for you to try it, then reads your line again before continuing.

Use this when you want to hear the line, test yourself, then hear it again.

Can I change the playback pattern while Table Read is playing?

Yes.

You can change the playback pattern at any time while Table Read is running.

How is this different from Mute My Lines?

Playback patterns give you different ways to hear, repeat, or practise your line.

Mute My Lines removes your lines from playback so you can test yourself without hearing them.
