I get a "Speech Recognition" or "Network Error" alert

This usually means your connection dropped mid-rehearsal.

Try switching Wi-Fi off and using mobile data instead. If that fails, turn on airplane mode once you generate all of your lines, and run in offline mode. Note that speech recognition is not as good offline!
