The reader voice is too quiet when I self-tape

First, check that your device volume is at maximum.

If it still feels low, that's intentional. Linus keeps the reader volume balanced with your voice so the scene sounds natural.

We set this level using more than 100 hours of test tapes reviewed by casting directors, agents, and producers! If it's difficult to hear even at full volume, go to your Playback Settings where you can manually control the volume of the AI voices.
